Effective date: 26 July 2026 · Last updated: 27 July 2026

These are the Subscriber Signup Terms of Service for the Steady newsletter — the terms you agree to when you subscribe. Two related documents sit alongside them: our Privacy Policy, which explains how your personal data is handled, and our Terms of Use, which governs use of the Steady website and its content.

Questions about any of these documents: [email protected].

1. Who we are

Steady is an email newsletter published by Georg, with Team Steady ("Steady", "we", "us"). The newsletter is free to read. You can contact us at [email protected].

2. What Steady is — and what it is not

Steady is an educational newsletter. It teaches practical skills drawn from the psychological approaches used in modern clinical care (such as CBT, DBT, ACT and behavioural activation), explained in plain English, with sources cited.

Steady is not:

  • therapy, counselling, medical care, or psychological, psychiatric or medical advice;

  • a substitute for assessment or treatment by a qualified professional;

  • a crisis or emergency service.

Reading Steady does not create a therapist–client, clinician–patient or any other professional care relationship between you and us. If you have concerns about your mental or physical health, please speak to a qualified professional, such as your GP or family doctor.

3. If you are in crisis

Steady's inbox is not monitored for emergencies and we cannot respond to crisis messages. If you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency services (112 across the EU, including Portugal; 999 in the UK; 911 in the US and Canada) or a local crisis line, or go to your nearest emergency department.

4. Who Steady is for

Steady is written for adults and is intended for readers aged 18 or over. If you are younger than 18, please only subscribe with the agreement of a parent or guardian.

5. Subscribing, unsubscribing, and optional paid support

Subscribing is free and the newsletter is free to read. You can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email; unsubscribing takes effect immediately and requires no explanation. We may close, suspend or discontinue the newsletter, or decline or remove a subscription, at our reasonable discretion.

Optional paid subscription. We also offer an optional paid subscription. It removes advertising and gives access to additional subscriber-only material. Taking it is entirely optional, and the free newsletter continues unchanged: the regular letters, the practices they teach and the sources they cite remain free to every subscriber. Safety information — including the crisis guidance carried in every issue — is never placed behind payment. Payments are handled by our platform provider; the price, the billing period, what is included and the cancellation terms are shown at the point of purchase. You can cancel at any time and cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or the UK, you keep any statutory rights, including any right of withdrawal, that apply to you.

6. Advertising

Steady is funded by optional paid subscriptions and by advertising. Issues may carry paid placements supplied through our platform's advertising network, and we are paid when a reader clicks one. Every paid placement is labelled as sponsored where it appears.

Advertising does not influence what the letters teach. Advertisers have no say in our editorial content and receive no personal data about you from us. The appearance of an advertiser in Steady is not an endorsement of their product by us, and is never an endorsement in relation to your health. Where a paid placement is accompanied by a personal recommendation from the publisher, the placement is still labelled as sponsored so that the commercial relationship is visible to you.

7. How our content is made

Steady is produced in an open workshop: AI tools are used substantially in researching and drafting our content, under human editorial direction and review. Sources for claims are cited in each issue.

8. No promises of outcome

We promise the content, never the outcome. Psychological skills affect different people differently, and nothing in Steady is a prediction or guarantee of any improvement in your wellbeing. Every practice we describe is optional; if something does not feel right for you, do not do it, and seek professional guidance where appropriate.

9. Rights in our content

The newsletter and website content is owned by the publisher unless otherwise credited. What you may and may not do with it is set out in our Terms of Use.

10. Liability

The newsletter is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we accept no liability for loss or damage arising from reliance on the newsletter's content; you remain responsible for decisions about your own health and wellbeing, in consultation with qualified professionals. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, and nothing in them limits the statutory rights you have in respect of any optional paid subscription you have bought.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version will always be available at this page, with the "last updated" date shown at the top. If a change is material, we will flag it in the newsletter. Remaining subscribed after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of Portugal. If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or the UK, you also keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in.
